The following letter will be sent out to parents/carers of all children in year 6 tomorrow (Tuesday 5th May):
Dear Parents and Carers,
As I’m sure you’ll be aware, next week all children in year 6 will be completing their SAT tests. They will be tested in reading, SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) and maths.
The tests are taken by all year 6 children across the country and are used to measure your child’s progress from the end of year 2 (Infant school) to the end of year 6 (Junior school). They are also used to help your child’s new secondary school organise their maths/literacy classes for September.
The tests will take place in ‘Busy Bay’ at the following times:
– Monday 11th May – Reading (9:15 – 10:15am).
– Tuesday 12th May – Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (9:15 – 10:15am).
– Wednesday 13th May – Maths paper 1 and mental maths test (9:15 – 11:00am).
– Thursday 14th May – Maths paper 2 (9:15 – 10:15am).
As we’ve done in previous years there will be providing a special free year 6-only breakfast club in the staff room every morning next week from 8:30am.
Although we want all of our children to achieve their best in the tests next week, we do not want children to feel overly pressured or worried about the tests. All we want, as I’m sure you do, is for your child to come to school and give 100%. We’re proud of everything they continue to achieve in school on a day-to-day basis.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns about the SAT’s please do not hesitate to speak to me in person, give me a call or e-mail using the address below.
